Oulu-based cold chain technology company Coldest Chain Ltd has signed its first commercial agreement: a distribution agreement covering three countries with the Colombian company Isoen Smart Solutions S.A.S. The agreement opens the markets of Colombia, Mexico, and Spain for the company’s patented transport system based on passive cooling. The deal is a significant milestone: years of product development, patenting, and testing phases are now turning into revenue.
Coldest Chain’s business model is leasing: the customer does not buy the boxes but rents them under a full-service model, where the price includes the boxes and technical support. The value of the first agreement is 20 million euros, which represents the minimum order. Delivery volumes are intended to be increased significantly as early as next year.
Expertise is scaled through training: the Finnish company Mobie Ltd, using its CompetenceX learning platform, provides certification training for logistics companies on the use of the Coldest Chain system in all contract countries. In this way, Finnish educational technology becomes part of the global logistics shift toward more ecological operating methods.
